When you leave the shop, our artists will have bandaged the tattoo and offered you our cleanser and lotion to keep your new tattoo clean and hydrated. Keep this bandage on until you are able to wash it properly. A shower is best, all grease, blood, ink, etc needs to be washed off. Bandages can be left on for up to 24 hours but we advise to take it off one to three hours after your appointment unless you have mitigating circumstances that require you to leave it on longer (i.e a dirty environment, back to work, etc.)
When it’s time to wash the tattoo, be gentle and do not use any rough exfoliants such as face cloths or loofahs. If you decided not to use our aftercare products, be sure to get a soap and lotion that are fragrance free to avoid irritation. Pat dry with a towel, do not rub. Apply a thin layer of ointment very sparingly only a few times a day with freshly washed hands. Avoid touching it too much or over applying ointment, in fact, the less you touch it, the better! Your tattoo may become itchy and start to flake in the coming days; this is normal. Do not scratch your tattoo! Do not pick off the scabs, as this can result in pulling the ink from the skin prematurely, resulting in unnecessary touch ups. Keeping it clean and leaving it alone as much as possible will give the best results. If you think you have a problem please do not hesitate to come to the shop or give us a call! Our experienced artists will be able to help!
Do not go submerge your tattoo in pools, hot tubs, or baths for at least three weeks. Avoid direct sunlight.
